We're a CPA-led accounting firm based in Riverview, serving businesses across the South Shore and greater Tampa Bay area. Our clients are contractors, skilled trades companies, medical and dental practices, real estate professionals, service businesses, and nonprofits. Most of them are owner-operated and have between one and fifty employees.
Our team comes from a background in large-scale financial management, overseeing operations that spanned dozens of countries and portfolios worth millions of dollars. We've taken that same discipline and applied it to the businesses that need it most. Not Fortune 500 companies, but the local businesses that drive this community.
We handle bookkeeping, payroll, tax preparation, and sales tax. We also go deeper when clients need it. Cash flow forecasting, budgeting, construction job costing, fractional CFO support. The point is to match the level of service to what the business actually needs right now, with room to grow.

Miguel Zavaleta, CPA
I spent over 20 years in accounting and financial management before starting EMG. Most of that time was in nonprofit finance, including serving as VP of Finance for an international organization in Washington, DC. I oversaw accounting, budgeting, cash flow, and financial reporting across 65 countries, managing portfolios worth millions. That kind of work doesn't leave room for guesswork. Every number has to be right and every report has to hold up under scrutiny.
What pushed me to start my own firm was a pattern I kept seeing. Small business owners, whether for-profit or nonprofit, were struggling with the same financial challenges that large organizations face. But they didn't have a finance department. They were trying to handle it themselves or relying on tools and services that weren't giving them what they needed. And the ones who wanted to grow couldn't get there because they were spending too much time on tasks outside their expertise.
I started EMG to bring real financial support to those businesses. I work hands-on with contractors, trades companies, medical practices, real estate professionals, and nonprofits. I understand these industries because I've served them for years and I know the specific challenges they face with job costing, cash flow timing, compliance, and reporting.

Natalya Burlakova
Natalya holds a degree in Accounting and runs our accounting operations, administrative processes, and client coordination. She makes sure nothing falls through the cracks. Records are accurate, communication is timely, and every client's experience is smooth from start to finish.
She works directly with small business owners to support day-to-day bookkeeping, organization, and operational follow-through. Her experience spans service-based and owner-operated businesses, including home services, real estate-related companies, and other closely held firms that need consistent recordkeeping and hands-on support.
The work she does behind the scenes is a big part of why our clients can count on things running the way they should. When the details are handled right, the rest of the business moves forward without unnecessary friction.
Steve Connett, CPA
Steve is a Certified Public Accountant with over 35 years of experience providing tax preparation and advisory services to individuals and small business owners. He earned his degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida and has served clients in the Valrico area and surrounding communities for decades.
His work has focused on long-standing individual clients and closely held local businesses, particularly trades, service-based companies, and family-owned firms. Steve is currently assisting during a transition period to support continuity of service and trusted client relationships.
